FiveM is a mod for GTA V with a ton more features. The issue is that you have to set up an individual server in order to play the game. Without the right instructions, you could end up with a server that crashes, or worse, doesn't start at all. Our team of experts designed this FiveM server setup guide to show you the sequences.
FiveM Server Setup
The first step is to make sure that you've registered your license key with the keymaster service. Also, ensure that your IP match the public IP where you'll use the key.
Follow the Server Requirements
Before you begin your FiveM server setup, be sure that your system meets the specifications. An Intel Core i5 @ 3.2GHz processor is required or a comparable. You'll also require 8GB RAM and a 72GB HDD space.
For Windows
Create an archive folder within the root directory of your drive. A sample directory might include:
C:FXServerserver
Step 2: Download Master Branch
Now, extract the master branch zip file from artifacts server. You can extract it with any archiving software to your FXserver directory.
Then, copy your cfx server-data to a different folder that isn't part of the binaries folder for your server. Here is a sample directory.
C:FXServerserver-data
Make an serve.cfg folder in your server files folder. Copy the example from "Make server.cfg Linux" below to the file.
You'll also need to generate a license key and set it in your server using
sv_licenseKey "your_license_here"
This command prompt will allow you to start your server.
cd /d D:FXServerserver-data
D:FXServerserverFXServer.exe +exec server.cfg
For Linux
Step #1: Create Folder for Download
Create a new folder, eg (mkdir /home/username/FXServer/server)
Step 2: Download Master Branch for Linux
You can download a master branch version from the artifacts servers into your new folder. To get the latest master branch build server version simply copy the URL and run "wget". Next, you need to extract the build to your folder by using this command line:
cd /home/username/FXServer/server && tar xf fx.tar.xz
Note that you'll need to install xz to run this command. After extracting the folder from the server binaries folder, clone the cfx_server-data folder. You could use this as an example:
git clone https://github.com/citizenfx/cfx-server-data.git /home/username/FXServer/server-data
Step 3: Create server.cfg
Next, create the server.cfg in your server data directory. First, make sure you've cloned the cfx_server-data file from the binaries directory of your server. Copy the following details into your new.cfg.
# Change the IP address only if using multiple network interfaces. Otherwise change the port only.
endpoint_add_tcp "0.0.0.0:30120"
endpoint_add_udp "0.0.0.0:30120"
These resources will be available by default
Make sure that mapmanager is running
Make sure you chat
Make sure you have spawnmanager
Sessionmanager should be used
Fivem
ensure hardcap
Make sure that rconlog is enabled
Scoreboard
This gives players to make use of scripthook-based plug-ins, such as the older Lambda Menu.
Set this value to 1 to enable scripthook. Note that this doesn't mean players won't be able to make use of plugins from outside.
sv_scriptHookAllowed 0
# Remove this comment and create the password to allow RCON. Make sure to change the password - it should look like rcon_password "YOURPASSWORD"
#rcon_password ""
# A comma-separated list of tags for your server.
# For example:
# - Sets tags "drifting cars, racing"
# Or:
# Tags set for "roleplay military, tanks"
Tags are set to "default"
# A valid local identifier that can be used to identify the primary languages used by your server.
# For example, "en-US", 'fr-CA", "'nl-NL", 'de-DE","en-GB", and "pt-BR".
sets locale "root-AQ"
# Please replace root-AQ in the line above by a real language
# Set an optional server information and the banner image URL to connect.
Size doesn't matter. Any size banner image can be used.
#sets banner_detail "https://url.to/image.png"
#sets banner_connecting "https://url.to/image.png"
# Set your server's hostname
FXServer sv_hostname, but not configured
# Nested configs!
#exec server_internal.cfg
# Loading an icon of the server (96x96 PNG file)
#load_server_icon myLogo.png
Convars can be used in scripts
Set temp_convar "hey World!"
# Uncomment this line to stop your server from appearing in the server browser.
# Do not edit it when your server is going to be listed.
#sv_master1 ""
# Add administrators from the system.
Add_ace group.admin command allows all commands
add_ace group.admin command.quit deny # but don't allow quit
Add_principal identifier. Fivem:1 Group.admin # Add the admin to this group
# Hide the player's endpoints in external log output.
Sv_endpointprivacy is true
# Enable OneSync with default configuration (required for server-side state awareness)
onesync_enabled true
# Server slot limit (must be between one and 32, excluding when using OneSync).
sv_maxclients 32
# Steam Web API key, if you want to use Steam authentication (https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey)
# -- Replace "" with the key
set steam_webApiKey ""
# License key for your server (https://keymaster.fivem.net)
sv_licenseKey changeme
Step 4 Step 4: Apply FiveM License Key
You can now generate an online license key by putting a server configuration file in the server's data directory. After that, you can create the license key in your server.cfg file using this command line:
sv_licenseKey "yourLICENSEhere"
Step 5 5. Start the server.
Congratulations, your server configuration is now complete. To start, you must run the server from the server folder. Use the following command line:
bash /home/username/FXServer/server/run.sh +exec server.cfg
(For your game key configuration, you can check this guide on how to set up your FiveM server key)
Reminders and Tips
Sometimes, you won't get any'resources' and it says 'failed to start resource on your FiveM [1] server. Sbcglobe If this happens, it's because you didn't direct 'cd' to the correct folder. Make sure you check the directory for your files and try again.
You can find out more about server hosting here and how to find an appropriate server for your preferred online game on our page on how to host servers like a KF2 Server.
Conclusion
Thanks to our team, you are aware of how to finish the FiveM server setup. The process of setting the server hosting for your account is quite straightforward, from creating an account to setting up your make server.cfg file complete with admin command lines. In the end, it is important to follow the steps accordingly for the best results.
