Minecraft continues its charge onto new platforms with a European launch on Vita on October 15. 4J Studios, the UK team that is porting the sandbox game game to North America, tweeted that there isn't a confirmed date yet.
Cross-buy is possible for the portable Minecraft version. If you've purchased the game on PSN it is also possible to purchase it on Vita. Mojang, the developer of Minecraft, stated that Mojang has stated that the asking price was $20 per PS3. Saves can be transferred between PS3 and Vita and DLC purchases can be done across both editions.
At the time, Mojang said it was working with Sony to "look into ways to enable upgrade from the Blu-ray disc version of Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition to Minecraft: Playstation 3 and Vita." We've reached out to Sony to inquire if those who have Minecraft on PS3 Blu-ray also have access to the Vita version for free. Also, we're still waiting on date of release for the retail version of the Vita game. The next week's launch is limited to PSN.

It's still a busy old time at Minecraft headquarters, which of course is now Microsoft following the company's $2.5 billion acquisition of Mojang and its lucrative game. Minecraft's PS4 version is now available to purchase on the storefronts for online stores of the latest generation consoles. The Xbox One disc version will be available in US stores from November 18.
