Over-Optimization SEO Today
In the aftermath of 1 of Google's most recent updates Over-Optimization has become a point of emphasis in SEO. A prime exemplory case of over-optimization would be a precise match domain, with an exact page title, an Unnatural page description and a high keyword density within the pages content. Additionally, if your entire backlinks are designed with the same anchor text, this will also now effect your site negatively.

I'm going to be more specific...

Lets say your main target keyword was "earn money on the net".

If your domain name is makemoneyontheInternet.com & your pages title is make money on the internet and the pages description reads, "learn how to earn money on Internet", all while the pages content has earn money on the Internet stuffed in everywhere, then that page is completely guilty of over-optimization.

If all that pages backlinks are anchored with "earn money on the Internet" this falls in to the same over-optimization category.

Now, that's not to state exact match domains won't work, that your page title and description shouldn't include your target keyword or that the anchor text of your backlinks shouldn't use said keyword. These strategies do work, however they can be used in moderation.

Again, I'm going to be more specific...

Google and the other major search engines desire to believe that other people besides the webmaster are linking into a site, so logical thinking indicate anchor text would be mostly different. When I focus on a clients site I'm always sure to help keep anchor text really confusing. Of course I take advantage of the prospective keywords, but I'll likewise incorporate several raw URL's as well as a few "click here" or "take a look out" as well.
