* creator oddball: fred weintraub is mostly associated with hollywood-hong kong co-productions delivering marial art movies; he did end up using his hong-kong connections to get this one done
* hollywood doubling: former yugoslavia location as istambul and turkey in general, along with various locations later on
* fake nationality: all over the place
* troubled production: it started in '77 and went in cycles for 6 yeas of various levels of executive, authorship and personal conflicts
* what could have been: john huston was the original director

* hilarious in hingsight: two years later john barry would also make a score to another movie where his majestic main theme would be played to a biplane flight sequence - except this time, he won an oscar for that; they are so damn similar, you can get them easily confused.
* what the hell, casting agency: BRIAN BLESSED as Suleman Khan, "Afghani" warlord in brown face
* displaced adaptation: while the film is nearly forgotten, the original book is a footnote in history.
* special effect failure: the crashing plane model is pretty good... the diorama of the model burning when already on the ground - not so much

* assasin outclassin: in the opening, charlie manages to shoot dead his would-be killer in the hotel room without much effort or fanfare; that despite charlie looking like a pushover and the guy being a gnarly type
* fapper: eve tozer, the main character
* hard party girl: same
* grandfather cause: before eve was born, her father and bentik, his business partner, draw an agreement that in case of death, the surviving partner takes it all; this obviously didn't account for the fact eve will be convieved in the first place
* daddy's girl: eve, despite their somewhat cooler relationship
* race against the clock: there are 12 days to get bradley tozer to a british court; last time, he was ''somewhere'' in afghanistan, and the plot forces eve to rush for "rescue"
* refuge in audacity: eve outright asks the party goers if anyone would loan her an airplane... and a raf officer stands up and declares that he will! except he find she needs it for more than tonight and some crazy party gag
* always know a pilot: lina did
* double entender

* ace pilot: BOTH of them; when eve was asking for a plane, she meants the machine, not the pilot to fly her; o'malley in more literal sense, as he's a distinguished military pilot, where ''one'' of his tours ended with 12 kills in a week
* rich in money poor in sense: invoked by o'malley toward eve

* my greatest mistake: o'malley isn't proud at all of his miliary career, and it's implied he drinks to forget; the the young pilots (too young to participate in WW1) nag him about his exploits, he hits very somber tone, clearly distraught by the idea anyone could idolise him shooting down barely trained schoolboys
* medal of dishonor: o'malley got a medal for 12 air kills in a week, while knowing he was facing undertrained and underaged pilots
* only in it for the money: o'malley couldn't care any less about eve or her goals
* the alcoholic: o'malley, and he gets ''really'' mean when drunk
* bad boss: mr bentik is constantly chewing down his right-hand man
* just plain wrong: the planes used in the film are stampe sv4 from early 30s; while the year isn't specified in the movie, the story is set in the 20s; the models used in the film were post-ww2 production from the ''50s''
* bad scar, good scar: suleman khan has a nasty, jagged scar across his right eye and cheek, befitting the "bad oriental warlord"
* laughably evil:

* chewing the scenery: they've hired BRIAN BLESSED to play a scheming, backstabbing warlord. what else did you expect?
* he man woman hater: waziri culture seems to run on this
* in name only: the film borrows the title, character names and the broadest of broad idea of the plot from the book it's adapted from; tellingly, it was originally released as Raiders of the End of the World to riff on Raiders of the Lost Ark popularity
* irony as she's cast: tom selleck had to pass on Raiders of the Lost Ark due to Magnum PI obligations; he's given his first feature role in a movie blatantly done to riff on Indiana Jones craze
wild goose chase / all for nothing: the company will be bentik's... but if eve's father is declared dead, then she inherits his ''patents'', which are important for the business
