In order to ensure accurate detection of seizures, a reliable seizure-detection device must have high sensitivity and low false alarm rates. This is particularly important for devices that trigger an alarm or engage a therapeutic intervention, such as giving rescue medication. Frequent false alarms can lead to either ignoring the alert or disengagement from using the device, which may result in an increased risk of further seizures.
