Wolpert married Elizabeth Brownstein in 1961, and so they had 4 children, two of whom, Daniel and Miranda, also turned at totally different instances professors at UCL, in neuroscience and clinical psychology, respectively. The marriage to Elizabeth resulted in divorce, and in 1993 Wolpert married the Australian writer Jill Neville who died abruptly of most cancers in 1997. Helen completed her internship in 1995 and went on to become a really profitable, well-liked and respected pharmacist with a massive following. Through to her late 90s, Pearl lived independently in a “granny flat”, built as an integral part of the house of her son, Robin, and daughter-in-law, Clare. She drove herself across the native neighborhood till she was about 90. She cooked dinners three times weekly for her household into her mid-90s. She, and her household, were very lucky to have a dedicated full-time caregiver, Pauline Tenn, who took care of Pearl for the last six years of her life and enabled her to remain at home in her “granny flat” until the end. He was a gentleman who influenced numerous students, registrars and fellows over a profession which spanned close to 70 years.
In his later years, he still often took in people who needed a place to remain or safe haven, and he felt very deeply that not sufficient was accomplished in the world to eradicate the issues of homelessness, poverty, and hunger. He wrote over the years to many ministers about these issues, typically suggesting to them solutions which he may see may make life higher. Indeed, holding people to account by writing letters and pursuing problems with injustice till he forced these in power to respond to him, even if simply to admit that they weren’t going to do something about it, was an abiding characteristic of his life.
He labored in drug and alcohol rehabilitation in Sydney until retiring in his mid-80s. He practised at Tara, Sterkfontein and Weskoppies hospitals from 1946 till 1970 and earned membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists (London) in 1971. A member of the Johannesburg Mental Health Society, he was medical superintendent and Chief Executive of Tara and Germiston hospitals within the 1970s. He served on the Board of the Wits Faculty of Health Sciences and was a member of the selection committee for the post of Professor of Psychiatry.
In 2006 he advised on the creation of Exxaro and in 2017 its substitute empowerment transaction. In 2007 he suggested Alexander Forbes on its delisting from the JSE and its subsequent restructure. In 2008 he advised Exxaro on the US$3.four billion mixture of its Mineral Sands Operations with the businesses of titanium dioxide large Tronox. Internationally esteemed lawyer Kevin Richard Cron (BCom 1978; LLB 1980; LLM 1985) handed away in August 2019 after a relatively short battle with most cancers. He left an distinctive legacy of legal excellence, professionalism and mentorship, in addition to being a household man with a love of studying, journey, and wildlife. However, his ardour was Dentistry and he devoted himself to constructing an illustrious career on this field.

After graduating from Wits, he accomplished residencies in pathology at Sheba Medical Center in Israel and Children’s Hospital in Boston and a fellowship at the Mallory Institute of Pathology, settling in Pittsburgh in the US in 1977.
