Deafheaven's black-metal-dipped-in-luscious-shoegaze tunes are full of musical movements and dynamics that wouldn't be out of place on a progressive rock record. deafheavenmerch , meanwhile, take a variety of styles into their bludgeoning songs, from hardcore to industrial to '90s-era grunge. Code Orange's brutal breakdowns are punctuated by a slick electronic as well as a brutal soundscape and a negative space. It's more of an unsettling nightmare than the typical hardcore group.
The various styles are brought together to make a show visually captivating as it is musically devastating. They're the kind of band that make you stop checking your phone and just stare at them, which is why they've become one of my favorite touring shows to catch.
It is important to keep in your mind that these men have a job. The only method of making ends meet is through selling products.
