The EMFIT Tonic-Clonic Seizure Movement Monitor uses advanced technology to detect generalised tonic-clonic seizures while patients are sleeping.
The Emfit Tonic-Clonic Seizure Monitoring System consists of two main components; a bed sensor mat placed under the mattress and a control unit. Together these detect micro-movements caused by breathing and heart beats and faster movements such as muscle spasms that occur during a seizure, which triggers the alarm.

What type of sensors are used?
The EMFIT Tonic-Clonic Movement Monitor uses a sophisticated sensor that can detect both fast and slow micro-movements that occur during a seizure. This means it can be used by both children and adults alike.
What types of false positives are observed?
The sensitivity of the movement detection method can be adjusted, which can result in a lower false positive rate. However, it is important to note that movement detection is not an alternative to seizure diagnosis or a preventative measure against SUDEP.
