A FIRST EPISODE
The Simpsons' family is illegally hooked up to cable by a cable crook. simpsons merch becomes convinced that her dad is violating the Eighth Commandment. She convinces Reverend Lovejoy, who reluctantly cuts the cable connection, to warn Homer about Hell.
Homer, who is not a fan of violence enrolls at Springfield Nuclear Power Plant in Moe’s self-defense classes and begins boxing. He soon becomes a boxing prodigy and is respected by his peers. Lucius Sweet believes Homer could be a professional.
Homer invites Marge to a televised, bare-knuckle, boxing match with Drederick T. Tatum. This is a parody Mike Tyson. Homer is able to overcome his conscience and stop the fight from even starting.
Later, Bart discovers a cable porn channel called "Top Hat Entertainment." Homer confronts Bart when he charges the kids of the neighborhood 50c each to watch this show. He threatens him with the belt if they continue to watch. Bart is forced to stop watching the show after Homer catches him.
In the entire episode, there are numerous verbal and body jokes that mock both the sport boxing and the boxers themselves. Also, there are references to other movies like Raging Bull and Rocky.
This is Troy McClure’s first appearance, a character that was based on actor Phil Hartman. Lucius Sweet (a parody of Don King the boxing promoter) is also featured for the first-time in this episode. The opening scenes with Moses on Mount Sinai as well as the boxing match are both reminiscent of scenes in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest and The Ten Commandments, 1956. The title of the episode refers to Lou Reed's song Broadcast Nudes. The episode first aired in February 1991.
