Lucy Dacus Greeting Card
There's a certain ethereal quality to the music of Lucy Dacus. Her voice is calm and steady when she sings about her early religious upbringing or her journey through the world of today. It's not solely due to her singing ability. This is also the consequence of her capacity to challenge the world in a refreshing and reassuring manner.


It's a real honesty that's evident on her new album Home Video, which hits stores on June 25. Home Video is the follow-up to her debut album from 2016 No Burden and is also billed as the year's Historian. It sees the 26-year-old singer/songwriter confronting her past and her future.

Home Video, unlike her debut album called No Burden and her subsequent LP, Historian, which focused on specific traumatic experiences, is a more expansive representation of human life. It's as if Dacus were releasing the novel.


In collaboration with producer Collin Pastore (who produced her previous two albums) at Trace Horse Recording Studio in Berry Hill, Virginia, she unpacks a variety of experiences and emotions that are relatable and universal. Songs like "Christine" that examine the cult of personality that is prevalent in certain religious groups, or "Thumbs" is a look at her inability to help herself as she sees friends who are with unhealthy relationships.
