Winter is upon us and the time has come to prep your sprinkler system for the colder temperatures. This involves using an air compressor to blow out all the water from your system, and here's how to go about it:
Shutting down the main valve is paramount when it comes to ceasing operations for your sprinkler system.
In order to empty the piping system of any water, drain valves should be opened or take advantage of a wet and dry vac to extract the liquid.
After the pipes have been drained of liquid, securely affix your air compressor to the blow out adapter of the sprinkler system.
When you turn on the air compressor, keep it running until the pressure gauge reads 60 psi or higher.
Subsequently, switch off the air compressor and disengage it from the blow out connector.
Shut frick screw compressor and re-energize the sprinkler system's main supply of water.
Get the sprinkler system checked properly by running each zone in your yard for a few minutes to guarantee no water-related issues.
Having completed steps 3-7 for one zone of your sprinkler system, you should then move onto the next. Repeat the process until the entire system has been set-up.
After 6 gallon air compressor have all been cleared of air pressure, you must shut down the water flow at its source and break the connection between the air compressor and the rest of the system.
To ensure pipes aren't exposed to chilly weather, be sure to cover them with insulation for optimal protection from freezing temperatures.
As the shovels dig into the ground and brave trees start to shed their leaves, we can now proudly say that our sprinkler system has undergone a successful blowing out process courtesy of an air compressor. Prepped and lowes air compressors for winter, we could not be more satisfied.
