We fought imaginary evils, defended those who needed us
But then we grew up, and we all turned upside-down
Our knights turned into bullies, smiles became frowns
Everyone had a mask, not wanting to seem unclean
We were taught to keep our emotions bottled, never to be seen
But when someones bottle broke, we laughed at their pain, called them weak
As if we forgot, that everyone weeps
As more of our friends turned to drugs and alcohol
never once did we stop and look at what we had become
It was a battle to be cool, or to do the best in school
What good is growing up, if we grow up to be cruel?

We lost sight of the future, what it really all meant
What use is money and drugs, when all your happiness is spent
Less smiles, more hostility, this was not the way it was supposed to be
We are all canvases, covered in layers of grime
so dirty, that even we are decieved, and believe what we see
A generation that believes, they will never achieve like the rest of the population
Nobody can find time for a kind gesture, or compassion
Because theres something missing in our interactions.
You cant care for others, when your being smoethered by your own troubles
