The plates provide rapid, dependable detection of coliforms with results in as few as 22 hours. The plates are designed to detect the presence of bacteria that grow and reproduce by utilizing a cold water soluble gel, pH indicator and 5 bromo-4 chloro-3 indolyl beta-D-glucuronide (BCIG) to indicate glucuronidase activity, allowing for coliform enumeration with just one step.
