Dorothy Costume - A long lost piece of film magic
Dorothy is among the most popular characters from The Wizard of Oz. dorothycostume is an innocent girl from Kansas who is taken by an uncontrollable tornado to the Land of Oz in which she makes her fellow travelers and assists in defeating the Wicked Witch of the West. Dressing up as Dorothy is a fun option to celebrate Halloween, especially for girls. You can pick from a wide range of costumes for kids as well as adults. Children will love making classic bows in their hair and twirling in a beautiful blue gingham dress, while adults can choose an elegant look by wearing a short blue dress, high heels and glam makeup.


The Catholic University of America announced in June that it found a piece of film magic which was the gingham blue-and white checkered dress Judy Garland wore when she was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. The costume was given to the university in the 1970s, and had never been seen again. Drama department professor Matt Ripa had heard rumors of its existence, but spent hours searching in closets and archives but in vain. On June 7 He came across the dress, placed in a backpack in the top of a mailbox for faculty.


The dress was designed by the film's costume designer Adrian The dress was reportedly one of the five costumes utilized in the filming. This particular dress was featured in the iconic scene when Dorothy discovers the multicolored land of Oz for the first time. The dress comes with several unique features that can be verified which include a hidden pocket that can be used for a handkerchief, as well as "Judy Garland" written in a script exclusive to the actress. It also has the same wrinkles and stains as on the original dress and was auctioned by Bonhams at auction in the year 2015.


The ruby slippers made up an integral component of Dorothy's outfit. The original design of the studio was to be silver, but they were colored red in the film to be in line with the dress. You can recreate the look by putting on a pair of short ankle socks in a shade that matches the dress and folding them inwards to reveal your feet. Dorothy had two braids. You can replicate this look by wearing three braids with the ends pulled tight around your head.
