Heilung Merchandise
The group Heilung is a band with a distinct style of folk that is influenced by Germanic and Nordic culture. The music they play often incorporates symbols and runes from ancient Norse and Germanic mythology. Furthermore, their live shows are enveloping and ritual-like in nature. The merchandise of the band, which includes Hoodies and t-shirts, are popular with fans who appreciate their distinctive sound and design.



The band was formed in 2014. The members hail from Denmark, Norway and Germany. Founders Kai Uwe Faust (vocals) and Christopher Juul (multi-instrumentalist) self-released their debut album, Ofnir, in 2015. In the year 2015, Norwegian vocalist Maria Franz joined the group. She joined as a guest singer on the album, but was later made a full-time participant. The band is dressed in elaborate costumes which are either historically accurate depictions of Bronze Age clothing or based on religious traditions. Heilung utilizes throat singing, chanting and battle sounds as well as field recordings.


Heilung's live shows are extraordinary The depth of historical engagement is what sets it against other groups of similar subgenres. The music of the group is described as "amplified north-western European history" and the lyrics are based on historical texts such as runic inscriptions. They make use of instruments based on archeological discoveries and audio sources like animal skin drums as well as bone flutes.


The group is also known to use smoke, fire and other dramatic elements in their live performances. The music they perform is meant to be both raw and spiritual and their shows are usually with actors and dancers dressed as animals, Viking warriors, and Norse gods.


Taking inspiration from their own Viking family, the group is focused on recovering Norse culture from Neo-Nazis. Heilung Blanket strive to help viewers to see Viking symbolism in a fresh perspective, and each Heilung show opens by reading a poem that emphasises the humanity of the audience. "Remember that we're all brothers, all of us as well as animals, trees and the wind and stone" reads the first line of the poem.


The band recently began their tour of North America. They made their first stop in Denver, Colorado, at the infamous Red Rocks venue. Each show is a ceremonial element, and a tree will also be planted in every ticket that is sold.
