Another method of pattern placement involves directly printing the building blocks onto SAMs-coated substrates with dielectrophoresis. In addition to the above strategies, focused placement may be achieved using molecular gradient patterns on the surface of the substrate and electrodynamic focusing of charged aerosols. For instance, Choi and co-workers have successfully demonstrated the focus of spherical particles within SAMs designs on PMMA by using electrostatic funneling. The same can be said for focused placement. also been achieved by other methods, such as direct injection of holes or ions onto the substrate.
