Evermore Stickers for Taylor Swift's brand new album
It's either the "Shake It Off" remix with its ominous-sounding title or the softer, romantic "Back to December" the songs on Evermore provide a welcome contrast to the bitter love songs of her latest albums. Swift is still a master of writing them, of course, but on this album she's more proficient in exploring the boundaries of modern mythology.


Evermore has greater production effects, as well as a more mature songwriting approach. On the brutal "Closure" the singer uses Bon Iver’s Messina voice modifier to transform her soft timbre into a barely contained growl. She gives a haunting sonic quality to some of the most heartbreaking tracks on the album. In "Marjorie," she paints her grandmother as a resonant force whose entire story she'll never relate.



The production of the album also suggests a shift away the folk-inspired indie style of Folklore towards something more pop. There's some glamor here yes, but that cool blue velvet curtain she's been recording the Midnights Mayhem videos in front of isn't helping, but it's more of a chilled out inside kind of glamor as opposed to the glamour of a pop superstar.


Taylor Swift Stickers -release for Midnights contains a song that is new that is titled "Karma." It's interesting since it has a name that is similar to an album that many fans believe existed, but was pulled in order to accommodate Reputation in 2017. The only reason I can think of why Swift is putting off releasing the new version of Karma is that there's still litigation pending about the lyrics she used by 3LW on the chorus of 1989's most popular hit song, and she might be waiting until the court's decision is final before recording the old song using the lyrics.


If this is the final chance to celebrate the Reputation period, then it is likely that the next venture will be a tour. This makes sense both for the financial and artistic aspects. Performing live is how artists make most of their money, and seeing Folklore and Evermore in concert venues is a great experience for her fans. It's also a fantastic option to increase the mini-residency model that Harry Styles has used to success, and to give the singer more opportunities to connect with her fans through music.
