People with psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) have similar symptoms to those with epileptic seizures, but they are triggered by a psychological problem. Some of these symptoms include shaking movements, sudden unresponsiveness, pelvic thrusting, and side-to-side head movement.

PNES may be associated with trauma, such as an accident, post-traumatic stress disorder, or other conditions. However, a physician should rule out any underlying medical condition that might trigger an episode of PNES.
