Everyone can remember where they were when tragedy struck. For the Black Dahlia Murder, that day was on May 11, 2022. That was the day they received news that frontman Trevor Strnad passed away suddenly at age 41.
The members of the band were shocked. Strnad was more than just musician. He was the face of the band and kept the band on the radar with interviews or podcasts, as well as videos of him displaying his collection of death metal music. It's difficult to replace the man.
Fortunately that the remaining members of the band are deciding to continue. Co-founder Brian Eschbach will move up to lead vocals, whereas guitarist Brandon Ellis, bassist Ryan Knight, and drummer Alan Cassidy remain in their duties. The group is planning to resume touring and will begin with Detroit being their first stop. The band is also planning to write new songs and recording demos. The Black Dahlia Murder merch from sale of merchandise are used to fund funeral costs and Common Ground Resource & Crisis Center.
