Hatsune Miku Cosplay
The act of cosplay is to dress up in costume and portray a particular character from a video, game, manga or comic. Cosplay is popular at fan events. Participants are known as "cosplayers".

Background

Saya scarlet is a Russian Cosplayer that is a Hatsune Miku Fanatic. She is the administrator and cosplay ambassador for the largest Russian Hatsune Miku club. Cosplay, or kosupure (dressing up as fictional characters), is a popular activity. The activity has been gaining popularity, and many photoshoots as well as events have taken place.
Character

Miku may be the most famous Vocaloids. So it's not surprising that many people dress as Miku. This cosplayer is a master at the classic style, down to little details on her skirt or sleeves. This cosplayer did an excellent job capturing the Vocaloids' wide-eyed look with her makeup and lenses.

Cosplayers can also dress up as male Vocaloids. This one did an excellent job at capturing the look and feel of Len, a popular character. She also did a nice job showing off Len's hair and hat, which are what make him different from Miku.

Many cosplayers dress as their favourite characters and show up to events. But some go on television in order to promote their passion. Saya scarlet, a cosplayer from Japan who attended the Magical Mirai 2017, was approached while in Japan by a TV crew. Even though she didn't speak any Japanese and knew only a few English phrases, she was able tell the TV crew her story despite knowing very little English.
Music

Hatsune Miku has appeared in a number of music videos. She has also performed with a variety of bands in concert. Big Boi, a rapper from the United States, sampled Auraqualc's DATA 2.0 featuring Miku in his song Kill Jill, released in 2017. Slushii (a Japanese artist) also collaborated on her songs Daisy and Though the Night.

MikuMikuDance - a freeware application - was released to allow users to create animated songs to accompany Vocaloid tracks. A boom in fan animations and holographic musical concerts followed.

Crypton Future Media and Bump of chicken produced a CMV, a costume music video (Costume Music Video), in March 2014. Real musicians sang with Miku live. This was done by using a curvature screen, motion sensor, wifi and movement data in order to direct Miku’s gaze directly at the recording camera.
Vocals

Crypton Future Media developed Miku, a female-oriented singing synthesizer app. Yamaha Corporation Vocaloid 2 is the technology behind it. Her name is a mixture of Japanese words (in) for first and sound (miku). She is the only Vocaloid that uses Yamaha's Vocaloid 2 technology. Her character voicebank was modeled after Saki Fujita, the voice actress. Miku was the first Vocaloid with a trilingual voicebank after releasing a Mandarin Chinese version in September 2017.

Crypton Future Media released in March 2014 a Miku video that was not edited after the fact, but rather filmed in live time. This was made possible with a big, curved screen and adapted Crypton technology, such as motion data, wifi-sensors, or movement sensors.

Miku is also used for vocals by many other artists. The American rapper Big Boi, of Outkast fame, for his song DATA 2.0. She also appeared in Slushii’s Through the Night and a remix by Aura Quic of Daisy 2.0.
