I believe my favorite movie is the Dreamworks movie Shrek produced in 2001. It is my favorite movie because it taught me valuable morales at the time and even watching it now, it takes me back to the joy that I felt when I first watched it. Shrek had a lot of humorous moments and very memorable characters. The movie was very successful because it had many sequels and even a spin-off movie created many years later. All of these facts contribute to it being my favorite movie since childhood.

Shrek has multiple memorable characters and quotes that come up on the top of one's head. Each of the characters had their motives and they intertwined very easily. For example, Shrek was trying to remove all of the fairy tale creatures from his estate and area and in order to do so, he must rescue a princess which is conviently also an ogre, just like he is. They find their common interests and such and become friends, not instantly, and after a while their friendship grows into a romantic pair and they get married.

Shrek also has very important lessons that were able to influence the many children watching the movie. Shrek was able to introduce the idea that one does not have to be completely perfect and beautiful in a fairy tale, much like they most likely have read earlier in their lives. Shrek is able to tell that people are like onions, and that everyone has many layers of their personality. I believe that both of these lessons instilled through an amazing comedic animated film were able to shape me into the person that I have become today.

Shrek is also so good that when I watched it recently, I was able to rush back into my childhood instantly, and feeling the joy and innocence and peace that I had then was a very phenomenal experience. The movie was so good that I was still able to feel the adrenaline rush as Shrek and Donkey were trying to get across the bridge, or when Donkey and his dragon lover somehow were able to find love, despite their many differences.

In addition to the previous reasons, it had been awarded and nominated many awards . For example, in 2002, it was awarded an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and in 2002 again, it was awared the People's Choice Award for Favorite Movie. It has a very high rating on many movie critic websites, such as the 88% on Rotten TOmatoes and an 84% on Metacritic.

I adore Shrek the movie and everything about it. Shrek was able to teach children about important values in life, have many memorable characters and still be extremely comedic throughout the whole film and the many sequels and spin-offs after it. When I watched it I was extremely happy and I definitely would suggest it to anyone and everyone.
