Seizures are sudden and intense periods of time in which the brain sends electrical signals to each other. These electrical impulses disrupt communication pathways and interfere with normal function. To prevent the occurrence of seizures, a person should know basic first aid. Taking medication correctly is important, as well as drinking plenty of water and getting adequate sleep.
If a person's seizure is severe, they may need to be taken to the hospital. Depending on the type of seizure, they may also need to wear a medical alert bracelet.
