In the early 00s, South Texas' Pearsall Shale play made a name for itself as one of the most thriving hard rock plays in the nation. The emerging technologies of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling were undergoing their initial trials at this location and, much to the delight of all parties involved, the results were exceptionally promising. This propelled the Pearsall play to become among the most successful shale prospects in the entire country.
