1.Application layer is the top most layer of the OSI. The layer is closest to the end user. It provides services and interfaces for applications to access network resources.
eg: HTTP,SMTP,DNS
HTTP: Hyper Text Transfer Protocol(for transferring hypermedia documents such as html. Designed for the communication between web browsers and web servers)
SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol(Shares Electronic mails from client to server over internet)
DNS: Domain Naming System(Is like a phonebook for the internet. If you want to search something on web such as example.com ,where ever the computer will able to understand numerical IP addresses instead of human readable names.
It is a translator of human friendly web address and IP address.)
Presentation layer: It is a format or representation of data exchanged between applications. It send compressed or encrypted info to the receiving device.
Example: MIME ( Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension) It enables media system to share multimedia attachments.
Session Layer: It manages the communication or the interaction in between apps on other devices.
Example: NetBIOS (Network Basic Input Output System)Allows communication over LAN and establish file sharing and printer access.
Transport layer : It converts data into packets and ensures the deliverence in correct order. end to end communication between devices.
Example: TCP and UDP
User Datagram Protocol is a communication protocol used in computer networks. fire and forget
Network Layer:
Responsible for addressing ,routing .It finds best path for data transmission.
Different paths to reach destination.
