A battery stores chemical energy and converts it into electrical energy, and it needs to be properly maintained to ensure a long lifespan. امداد باتری Generally speaking, the three factors that determine a battery's life are performance, longevity and capacity. Keeping up with a regular schedule of watering, avoiding overcharging and using the correct charging methods will prolong a battery's life. However, there are some surefire ways that a battery can be killed even without being overcharged, and many of these are easy to avoid.
One of the most common battery killers is improper maintenance. This includes not watering a battery when necessary, overwatering and watering at the wrong time. For example, a battery should only be watered when it's at about 80 percent of its charge. If a battery is overwatered, the lead and sulfuric acid in the electrolyte will form a sulfate deposit on the plates. The deposit reduces the plate's ability to handle current and leads to overheating and damage to the internal components.
The risk of skin burns also increases when batteries aren't stored or handled correctly. The corrosive battery acid can burn the skin and irritate the eyes, nose and throat. It can also burn the lungs and cause permanent disfigurement. Sulfuric acid may irritate the stomach and intestines as well, leading to gastrointestinal ulcers and possibly a complication known as pulmonary fibrosis.
Lastly, batteries aren't toys and should never be used as such. The vapors produced by lead-acid batteries can be dangerous in living spaces and can cause severe or potentially deadly accidents when they are thrown around. Moreover, battery acid can burn the skin and corrode or eat through clothing.
If a person comes into contact with battery acid, it's important to treat it immediately. The type of treatment will vary depending on the type of acid, but most commonly it involves washing the affected area with clean water and applying a sterile dressing. Severe burns should be treated by a doctor.
The best way to prevent battery burns is to wear protective clothing while handling or working on batteries, including long pants and sleeves, a face shield, gloves and closed-toe shoes. It's also a good idea to work in a well-ventilated area.
While battery additives can temporarily extend the life of a lead-acid battery, they aren't a replacement for the worn out active material in the plates. Additives such as magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) or EDTA can be added to the electrolyte to reduce its internal resistance and provide a battery with an extra charge, but they won't reverse crackled or corroded plates or repair damaged separators. As a result, they're only a stopgap measure that shouldn't be relied upon for an extended period of time.
