MedicAlert offers a variety of medical ID bracelets and accessories for people with allergies, chronic conditions, disabilities and other life-threatening illnesses. These IDs have the member’s name, health condition, medications, treatment preferences and emergency contact numbers displayed on them.
Using their 24-hour service, MedicAlert’s Emergency Response Team relays members’ information to first responders in an emergency. The IDs also include a do not resuscitate order (DNR) and advanced directives that tell the system what a person wants done in certain situations.
The MedicAlert team works with members to ensure their medical records are kept current and up-to-date, which helps them receive the best possible care. If the user is unable to communicate with the monitoring center operator, they can use the caller ID feature on their device. When they do, a monitoring center professional will answer the call and evaluate the situation. If needed, they will contact EMS or the user’s caregiver.
