Values - What Do They Mean to Your Business
Our values are what drive us and the reason that people take actions in life and in business, essentially they are the things that are important to us. Values also explain why sometimes we are able to have disagreements with other folks or not can get on using them at all, this is because our values conflict or others may not respect them, especially because so many people hardly understand this part of our psychology. Knowing your values among others values in business might help improve relationships and in dealing with challenging (I don't like the word difficult as it's too limiting) people. Knowing our very own values might help us understand why we do or do not do something.

To give you a concept of what values are here is a short and in no way definitive;

Accuracy,
Punctuality and Timeliness,
Responsiveness,
Safety,
Cooperation (Teamwork),
Creativity,
Respect,
Loyalty and
Integrity.
So to learn your values it best to sit in a quiet room for ten minutes and write a list of words that are important to you, It's best never to use a list of words as crib sheet though just let your unconscious do the task. You should end up getting around 10-15 values on your list and by now, you may be beginning to come to some realization about why you do things or get feelings in certain situations.

The set of words which you have develop as your values are only for you, someone could have exactly the same list but the words could mean something completely different to your partner

Lets now look at how they are able to affect us by taking the worthiness of creativity, Should you have a value of creativity and that value is not being met, for instance you feel you are being stifled insurance firms to do too much paperwork, you'll start to become unmotivated in your organization, and potentially depressed as well as ill, that is until that value has been met or until you've moved out of the situation (the business) causing the problem. This may often be the cause for self sabotage of success in a business where consciously you could be working to grow your business but it's just not happening which is because your unconscious is stopping you as you are not doing what makes you happy.

So now you have that list of values it is time to sort them out and present them a hierarchy, The best way to do this is to write all of your values on a piece of card or paper then take two of them and ask yourself easily could only have one of these brilliant which one would it be? The one you choose should then continue top, you then do that with the rest of one's values until you have them in order. The top five of those values are the values that are important to you and those that you need to be met in order to be happy.

So what if you're not achieving something in your organization? let's say you are not making enough money, and there is more month left at the end of the money than money left at the end of the month! You have to check to see where your value of money, financial security or financial freedom is in your values list, Is it there at all? Chances are it's not in the top 5 if in your list at all, therefore you need to make a conscious decision to go it into the top 5. When website have moved that value you will discover that within a week or two (possibly less) that things start to change for you personally, you'll become happier and much more at peace with yourself as well as your business.
