Watch This: How House Plant Is Taking Over And What We Can Do About It
Easy House Plants

A slim monstera with shiny leaves and modern pot makes a striking addition to a corner. It is easy to grow and will happily be root bound. This reduces the need for repotting.

It is important to ensure that plants are in harmony with conditions of light. Avoid house plants with leaf drooping or swollen, mushy roots, or soil that is wet. They may not be salvageable and could be a breeding ground for diseases.

Pothos

Pothos also known as Devil's Ivy or Rapunzel plant, is one of the easiest to care for plant species for foliage. It thrives in low to bright indirect lighting and is ideal for filling dark areas of the room. It is tolerant of all conditions, and even direct sunlight, as long as it is not prolonged. However, if it is exposed to too much sun, it can be swollen and lose its variation.

Pothos is easy to propagate from a stem tip cutting. Simply cut a length from the vine and cut two leaves to around 2"-3". Place it in a container filled with water. It will begin to develop roots quickly. It is important to change the water regularly and at least once every two weeks. It can be planted in either potting soil, and will grow well in both. Once the root system has been established (usually within four weeks) then you can move it into a pot with regular potting soil for your houseplants.

Like all plants, Pothos needs good general fertilizer for your houseplant to ensure its health. However, it does not require fertilization as frequently as most other houseplants. A regular feeding in the spring and summer should be sufficient.

Pothos leaves can become brown and shriveled when placed in areas that are drafty or close to radiators. If this happens, reposition it in a brighter area of the house and fertilize it as usual.

A Pothos leaves will inform you if it requires to be watered. If the edges of the leaf are brown and dry, it's time to drink it. Also, if the leaves begin to lose their shape, it's most likely time to give it a drink.

Epipremnum (Pothos) Epipremnum (Pothos) variety of heart-shaped leaves that are available in green, white or yellow, is available. Popular varieties include 'Marble Queen,' which has striking white and green variegation, and 'Neon, with green leaves with yellow and red markings.

The life expectancy of Pothos is between five and 10 years, but providing it the right environmental conditions and regular maintenance, it can extend its life considerably. It is also easy to propagate, making it a perfect option for people who are new to gardening.

Monstera

Monstera Deliciosa is also known as the Swiss cheese plant or split-leaf Philodendron. It is a common indoor houseplant found in temperate climates. It is also a popular landscaping choice and can be grown outdoors in warm climates. It is a moderately greedy cultivator, and only needs to be watered once or twice a week to keep the soil damp.

easy house plants of the Dracaena genus Monstera is named because of its peculiar-looking leaves and a bizarre network of holes, giving it the appearance of Swiss cheese. These lobes and holes are scientifically referred to as fenestrations. best house plants appear on the leaves as they grow. In the wild, Monstera deliciosa produces fruit. However, it's difficult to make this plant produce fruit in an indoor setting.

Monsteras are not intolerant of cold temperatures and can die if left outside for longer than an hour. They prefer tropical temperatures that are like their native rainforest habitats. This makes them a great choice for a conservatory or any other spot with a sunny view that is cool enough to prevent frost and freezing.

Monsteras are vine plants that use aerial roots to climb up the soil. In the wild, they typically attach themselves to rocks or trees after having grown along the forest floor for a time. This natural behavior is why many gardeners add a trellis or moss pole to their pots as the plant grows.

The moss pole that can be made with chicken wire or a piece of long-strand sphagnum moss, will aid the plant and allow it to climb up instead of out of the pot. The pole can also help to keep away pests such as sap-sucking mealybugs and aphids as well as tiny thrips that resemble cigars that can harm the plant's leaves.

Repot the plant on a regular basis and supply it with plenty of indirect, bright sunlight. It can take some direct light, but it should not be exposed to direct sunlight from dawn until dusk. If a monstera is exposed to the sun for long periods of time will develop burnt leaves, and even die.

ZZ Plant

Zamioculcas zamiifolia, better known as the ZZ plant has made quite a splash when it first appeared on the market, and is one of the most simple house plants to care for. It's a great choice for dark spots in the home that many other plants can't live in, since it can thrive in any lighting conditions other than direct sunlight. ZZ plants can reach heights of up to one meter or more so they are well-suited to larger pots and stand-up plants.

The ZZ plant's main disadvantage is that it's poisonous if ingested so make sure it stays away from nibbling pets and children. It can also cause irritation to the skin, so wear gloves when handling it. It is rumored to cause cancer, but this hasn't been proved.

ZZ plants, as with all succulents, are simple to care for and grow. common house plants don't require a great deal of water, but they do need to be thoroughly watered and it is important to allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can result in root rot, so it's best to be on the safe side and water less.

The most suitable potting mix for them is a rich well-draining, well-drained mix that has perlite or sand to increase drainage. They're not a fast-growing plant for the home and can live for a long time without being repotted, but they'll require to be repotted if their roots start poking out of the top of the soil.

Fertilize during the growing season using an diluted half-strength liquid fertilizer. This usually happens every month or two times during the warmer months.

Like all indoor plants, check for insects such as Aphids on a regular basis. Look for spindly stems that are leggy and long, and yellow patterns or spots on the leaves (see the image above). Be aware of the signs of mold or rot.

These plants need a bit of humidity but are fine in most normal temperatures in the house. easy house plants will be dust-free if you mist them regularly. This is not just to enhance the appearance of your home but also to help them perform as air purifying plants.

Kentia Palm

A stunning and easy to maintain plant, the kentia palm (Howea forsteriana) has been popular since the Victorian period and was a staple house plant for many royal and aristocratic households. It is able to thrive in poor conditions, such as central heating, air conditioning and low sunlight. It's also tolerant of neglect, which makes it a good choice for beginners.

Kentias like indirect, bright light and will accept a bit of shade however, it's best to keep them away from direct sunlight as this can cause the leaves to burn. They don't like draughty places, so don't place them near windows which are usually shut and opened.

The kentia requires a soil mixture that is rich in nutrients and drains well. To achieve this, a combination of peat moss, perlite and potting soil can be used as a planting medium. Plant your kentia palms in a pot that has drainage holes and then water it thoroughly whenever the top centimetres of the compost are dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot. It's also best to let the soil dry slightly before watering it again.

You can prune your kentia to keep its shape, and then remove any dead leaves that show up. Pruning should be performed with care as too many fronds removed could cause damage to the trunk and leave the plant open to disease. If you choose to prune, use shears that have smooth cutting surfaces and remove the leaf bases from their bases instead of removing them. This could cause permanent scars.

A kentia may be vulnerable to a variety of pests, including mealybugs, spider mites and scale insects. Regularly dusting the fronds using a cloth or sponge can help prevent this problem. If they do, try spraying the plant with insecticidal soap, or neem oil.
