The report highlighted the fact that just 18% of creatives (editors, writers, cinematographers, executive producers, directors, and producers) were female.

This is the same as in 1998 (17 percent).

The government has come up with a variety of initiatives to tackle inequality at work. Film industry is a prime example of this. Women and racial minorities are faring no better.

Arzu Aliyeva has stated that the film industry recruits through interpersonal networks. While social capital is good however, it is a barrier to certain individuals from gaining access to the field.

Research finds that movies with male directors typically have more creative teams comprised of males than films without.
