Like other aroids, Monstera is quite tolerant in its development and can be grown as an indoor or outdoor plant. It can also be cultivated in dappled shade, which is typical of its forest understory habitat.

The flowers of the plant appear like an ear of ear corn. It produces a delicious fruit that has been described as a mix of pineapple and banana. It is possible to eat raw or cooked. The fruit of this plant can have a laxative affect which is why it is essential to eat it in moderation.

This tropical plant is able to endure cold temperatures, which makes it a unique. Many other aroids melt in extremely cold temperatures, but Monsteras can still grow and flourish.

As with most aroids Monstera needs to be watered sparsely and only when the top inch of the soil is dry. Make sure that excess water drain away from the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot when you water. Also, like most tropical house plants, Monstera requires a balanced liquid fertilizer. Use 1 teaspoon of balanced 20-20-20 liquid fertilizer in a gallon water to feed your Monstera plant every couple of weeks throughout the growing season.

Begonia

Begonias add a splash of color and interest to window boxes, flower pots and garden beds. They are simple to grow tropical treasures. You can find begonias in vibrant colors and shapes that suit your style, whether you choose single or double-flowered varieties. Begonias are an excellent alternative to other exotic houseplants since they bloom continuously during the growing season. They don't require any special care, except for watering twice a month.

More than 2,000 plant species belong to the genus of Begonia, with the majority of them sporting vibrant flowers and leaves. They are mostly native to the tropics, but some can be grown in cooler climates.

Tuberous begonias, like the'Non-Stop' variety, which is popular are a great choice for shady areas and containers for outdoor use. These begonias that are frost-sensitive develop from tubers that are either oval or round, and have a strong growing habit. They need sunlight and shade to flourish. However, they may not bloom in very dense shade or in areas that receive direct, hot sunlight. Wax begonias are more tolerant of full sun, but can quickly burn in hot weather.

Most begonias do not need deadheading, but they can benefit from autumn and spring pruning to stimulate new growth. They also thrive when planted in loose, fertile soil, like mixing with organic material or a light loamy mix with a slow-release fertilizer added.

If you want to reproduce begonias in a shallow tray, place the tubers with the hollow sides about 6 to 8 inches apart, in a moist potting mixture. Place the tray in a place with low light and keep the mix moist, but not soggy. They should sprout in about 4 weeks, and can be moved to a spot that has bright light once they're around an inch tall. When they are ready to plant outside, wait until there's no risk of frost. Alternatively, you can start begonias with seeds or by planting begonias in wax. They are available at greenhouses and garden centers.

The vibrant anthurium is a favorite as a hostess gift and is often used in wedding bouquets on Hawaiian and Pacific Islands.

Anthurium belongs to the large Genus Araceae which includes over 1,000 species of flowering plant. Some are very familiar, such as the orchid, hibiscus and poinsettia. Other are less well-known, such as the tulip tree and the Arum palm.

While it's possible to grow anthuriums from seeds, this can take up to four years before you can see any flowers. To speed up the process, you can propagate anthuriums by cutting them from mature plants. Look for a well-established anthurium with compacted roots that appear ready to be divided. Make use of a dry, clean knife to cut off a section of the plant. Be careful not to damage the roots.

Anthuriums can be transplanted into a pot by using vermiculite that has been moistened. Place the cuttings in a place that receives bright indirect light and remains at 70F. If necessary mist the soil and plant often and run a humidifier close to it. Don't over-fertilize the anthurium because it can cause root burns.

Repot anthuriums at a minimum every two years or if the root ball is too big for the pot. Choose a pot 20% larger than the anthurium's present one to avoid shock.

Spray soap diluted on the leaves of your anthurium and wipe them clean with a damp cloth. This allows the plant to breathe and restore a gorgeous shine. low maintenance house plants can suffer from spider mites. to suffer but a pesticide is able to help to stop this.

The coconut itself is a drupe, and not a real nut.

It is best to propagate this plant using seeds, which are ready to plant when they emit an audible sloshing sound when shaking. The seeds should be placed on their side with the eyes slightly upward, and placed in the soil approximately half the thickness of the hardshell. The process of germination can take a long time however it can be accelerated by high temperatures and humidity, and after six months, the shoots and roots are ready to be transplanted.

The plant is ideally suited to warm climates. It can tolerate frost but should not exposed to temperatures that are below freezing, as it could be damaged. It requires plenty of sun, a sheltered position and a soil that is well-drained. Watering is required regularly however, it must be kept moist, but not soaked. Fertilizing with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer is also important.

During the spring the palms produce fragrant flowers that smell sweet on a few branched stalks which both female and male coconuts. The flowers are protandrous, and the male flowers usually open earlier than females do so. The wind pollinates the flowers. After 4-6 years, the tree will begin to bear fruit.

For indoor cultivation, it is ideal to plant this exotic houseplant in a large pot with rich, well-draining soil. It prefers a sunny location, but will tolerate light that is low. As it grows, you can repot the plant with a container that is larger than its root ball.
