1. English Ivy

Ivy plants, Hedera helix are beautiful indoor houseplant. Their twisting tendrils spill out of pots and hanging containers. They are also commonly trained onto trellis frames and wire topiary forms to create whimsical and formal designs. While English Ivy is the most well-known variety of ivie, there are many other hedera helix cultivars with leaves in different shapes and colors. These include "Culy Locks A vigorous cultivar with leaves that curl and twist; 'Gold Baby', smaller than other varieties; 'Glacier' that can withstand slightly lower light conditions; and 'Shamrock', which is a glossy green variety that looks the most like ivy that grows outdoors in miniature.

Variegated ivy tends to flourish in medium light than in high light. It is important to water your ivy in a way that will keep it moist but not saturated. Also, ensure that the plant receives bright light for at least several hours every day.

Ivy is an excellent indoor plant but it can be afflicted by common indoor pests and diseases. Aphids and mites are two of the most frequent pests. Both can be controlled by using a strong insecticide. Leaf spot caused by oomycetes within the Phytophthora genus, is another common problem with ivy that can cause leaves to turn brown or wilt. If you notice spots on your ivy plant, treat them with the copper fungicide.

Root rot can also occur in indoor Ivy. This problem is more common in greenhouses and outside however, it can also be found in homes. The roots of the plants will develop black spots and may eventually die. If you notice any signs of decaying roots, give the plant less moisture and keep the soil as dry as possible between waterings.

2. Snake Plant

Sansevieria, or snake plant as they are sometimes called - is one of the most sought-after and versatile indoor plants around. These robust houseplants are well-known for their sword-shaped foliage that adds interest and depth to interior designs. They are also incredibly easy to maintain. Like all houseplants, the snake plant needs plenty of indirect, bright light to thrive. They have a special survival kit which allows them to adapt to low light conditions. Sansevieria is also tolerant of changing light exposure better than most other houseplants. You can place them in a spot that gets some direct sunlight throughout the day. However, beware of the scorching afternoon sun that can scorch other plants.

Snake plants are more resilient of droughts since they can hold water. It is also resistant to a variety of household pests and diseases including spider mites.

The ability of the snake plant to purify air is a different benefit. As it releases oxygen and moisture into the air, it helps reduce allergies and other respiratory issues by capturing dust and pollen. It can improve the acoustics of a room by absorption of the sound.

If your snake plant begins to brown or has mushy root systems It could be suffering from root decay. If you suspect this, trim away any dead leaves and roots and then repot the plant with fresh potting soil. This will help revive your beloved houseplant and restore it to health.

The large, porous leaves aid in removing harmful chemical compounds from the air like formaldehyde.

They can be planted as a houseplant by planting seeds in a draining soil mix and then putting them in indirect light that is warm and warm. After six weeks, the seeds will germinate and begin to develop roots. It is recommended at this time to spray the soil with water to keep it moist. When the seedlings have grown enough to be able to move them to a larger container they should be placed in a bright indirect light, and frequently fed with liquid fertilizer.

Each Philodendron has its own needs. Some philodendrons require high humidity, while others can withstand low lighting conditions. In general, philodendrons thrive in medium to bright indirect light during the daytime. They should be watered on an ongoing basis and easily spotted when they need to be watered by the wilting of the leaves.

4. Air Plants

Air plants, also referred to as Tillandsias, are epiphytes which are naturally growing on trees. They're becoming popular in homes because of their aesthetic appeal and ease of maintenance. These beautiful plants don't require soil to grow. They can be planted in a variety of imaginative ways. They are available in a broad variety of sizes and shapes that include flat, spiky leaves, strap-like branches and flowers in shades of pink, red, or purple that can last from only a few days up to months.

Air plants, like all plants, require water in order to thrive. In the wild, air plants obtain their water from the frequent rainfall and humid conditions of their habitat. Without soil and dry indoor conditions, it can be difficult to provide consistent humidity for the majority of air plants. Spraying an air plant with a mister every two or three times per week is the best way to keep it hydrated. This method will also prevent the leaves from becoming too damp, which can cause fungal infections or rot. You can also dip your air plant into the container of water at room temperature. Some people recommend taking the plant to the sink for 30 minutes or more to ensure it is sufficiently hydrated.

The ideal place to cultivate air plants is in an area with a lot of light where they are able to receive indirect sunlight. But, you should be aware that certain air plants prefer shady or dappled sunlight instead of full sun. If your air plant is exposed to direct sunlight, you must protect the leaves by using glass or a piece of fabric.

The majority of air plant problems result from poor humidity or watering. Dehydration can cause your plant to become brittle or dull. It could be suffering from rot if the plant is mushy, or has dark spots at its base. If you see twigs of varying sizes appearing out of the soil it's likely the time to plant.
