In nature, tillandsia is an epiphyte-they are non-parasitic and attach themselves to rocks, trees and other plants to obtain water and nutrients. Some orchids thrive in bright light, while others thrive in dim or medium lighting. Whatever the species, it is crucial that the plants get enough light to flower. Insufficient light can be the most common reason for an orchid not to produce flowers. Bright indirect sunlight is the best for most orchids. However, direct sunlight can cause burns to the leaves. To avoid this, place your orchid behind blinds or curtains that let light pass through.

Watering orchids is extremely important. Sprinkle the plants with warm water once or twice a week during winter, and three to four times a week during warmer months. The water should be drained until it flows out freely and eliminates any naturally occurring salts and keeps the roots slightly damp. To maintain it, re-pot it regularly with a coco coir or peat moss soil mix and keep it in bright indirect light. It is best to water it after the soil has dried between 50% and 75%, and then mist it frequently (but do not overwater).

Anthuriums can be propagated through seeds or stem cuttings. Cuttings from stems are suggested as seeds are only viable for a limited time. To do this, cut a piece of the plant that is at least one inch in length, then wrap it with sphagnum moss. Place it in a pot with some moisture and cover the container with plastic wrap to aid in the germination. When the roots are visible, remove the sphagnum, and cut the stem at the node. Place it in a potting mix for Aroids.
