These animals are domesticated, however, they have adjusted to life with humans. They have their own natural instincts and behaviors and they might not be the best choice for those who are looking for to have a pet that acts more like a companion.
People who would rather keep fish as pets usually have aquariums at home which can be of any size and shape. They can contain a variety of fish which include saltwater and freshwater species. People sometimes even keep marine or coral reef fish in their aquariums.
There are fish that are not kept in aquariums but instead are kept in tanks, such as goldfish. Other aquatic creatures are kept as pets as well such as hermit crabs and crayfish.
Reptiles and amphibians can be excellent pets. Certain species, such as salamanders or axolotls, can be trained to walk with leashes. Although they may not be as easy to take care of as a dog or cat to take care of but they are interesting. They are a great way for children to learn about responsibility and how to take care of something. Some can be extremely loud it is crucial to consider the noise level when selecting these types of pets. In addition, many of these animals are illegal to have in certain locations and require a permit or license to keep them.
