The rapper Post Malone Grabs a Magic The Gathering Post Card
The rapper is a massive Magic: The Gathering enthusiast even went as far to create a $100,000-valued tournament that allowed him to play against random opponents. A recent purchase may take his love for the game to an entirely new level. Malone was on the Howard Stern show this week and told Howard Stern that he bought an Alpha Black Lotus card, one of the most rare cards ever made in Magic: The Gathering, at a price of $800,000. The Black Lotus is an art-reprint of the original artwork on the card. The artwork was drawn by Chris Rush, and as such, it's extremely valuable.


It's no secret that Post Malone is a huge Magic: The Gathering fan, as he's been featured on several episodes of the YouTube gaming show Game Knights and is regularly streaming himself playing various games on Twitch. In addition, he's worked in conjunction with Wizards of the Coast to aid in the revival of Friday Night Magic after its suspension for the public during the COVID-19 epidemic. He's also been involved in the Pokemon trading game on cards along with J Balvin and Katy Perry as part of a promotional collection.



Post Malone's love for Magic: The Gathering has been a perfect fit for the company's most recent collaboration. The Grammy award-nominated 3x diamond-certified recording artist is working together with Wizards of the Coast to offer two sets of Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair cards that were designed and conceived by the musician. The first set, "Secret Lair x Post Malone: Backstage Pass," is a collection of cards created and picked by Post himself from his personal deck. The designs showcase his imaginative contributions, putting him in a starring role with cards like K'rrik. Post Malone Merch of Yawgmoth become "Post, Son of Rich," and the landscapes on the land cards feature Post's iconic tattoos. Post even illustrated and wrote the text on the Retro Frame Plains cards.



The second set "Secret Lair X Post Malone: The Lands" features the same design idea however, Post has created a set Magic: The Gathering Cards that reflect the beauty, and amazing nature of the environment. These cards reflect his signature figurative and abstract art style as well as the mountains that appear on the land cards representing his Texas roots and the natural landscape of his home. The cards also include a personal message in which Post expresses his gratitude to his fans for their support as well as his music. Each card that is part of this limited edition has been unique and signed and numbered. Preorders for both sets start on November 14th, and the release will occur on the 28th of November. Both sets are available with foil and non-foil versions. The entire set will be sold at various stores, including collector's and gaming shops.
