10 Misconceptions Your Boss Has About House Plant
Easy House Plants

A huge tree with glossy leaves and a contemporary pot will add a touch of class to any corner. It is easy to grow and will happily be root bound. This reduces the need for repotting.

A good match between plants and light conditions is essential. Avoid houseplant s that have drooping leaves or soil that is wet or has weak roots, as they could be unsalvageable and could carry diseases.

Pothos

Pothos is also known as Devil's Ivy and Rapunzel Plant. It's among the easiest plants for foliage to take care of. It thrives in light to low indirect light and is ideal for filling dark spots of a room. It's tolerant of all conditions and can even withstand direct sunlight if it isn't prolonged. However, if it is exposed to too much sun it may be swollen and lose its variegation.

Pothos is easy to propagate by cutting the stem tips. Simply cut a length from the vine and then cut two leaves to around 2"-3". Then place it in a vase of water. It will begin to grow roots very fast. Be sure to change the water frequently, at least every two weeks. It will establish roots in either water, or pot soil. Once the root system has established (usually within 4 weeks) then transfer it to a pot with regular houseplant potting soil.

Pothos, like all houseplants , needs an adequate general fertilizer for houseplants to ensure its health. Pothos doesn't require the same amount of fertilizer as other houseplants. A regular feeding in the spring and summer months should suffice.

Like most plants, it is important to avoid placing a Pothos in drafty areas or near a radiator as it can cause its leaves to become brown and shrink. If this happens, place it in a brighter area of the house and then fertilize it as usual.

A Pothos leaves will inform you whether it needs to be watered. If the edges of the leaf are brown and dry, it's time to drink it. If the leaves begin to shrink then it's time to water.

Epipremnum (Pothos), a variety of heart-shaped leaves that are available in white, green or yellow it is available. The most popular varieties are 'Marble Queen that has an attractive white-and-green variation, and 'Neon, with green leaves with yellow and red markings.

The life expectancy of Pothos is about five to 10 years, but providing it the right environmental conditions and routine maintenance, it could extend its life considerably. It is also extremely easy to propagate, making it an excellent choice for beginners.

Monstera

Monstera Deliciciosa is also referred to as the Swiss cheese plant or split-leaf Philodendron. It is an indoor houseplant commonly found in temperate climates. It can be grown outdoors in warmer climates, and is a popular landscape plant. It is a moderately greedy plant, and needs to be occasionally watered to keep the soil dry.

A member of the Dracaena genus The monstera is known because of its peculiar-looking leaves and a bizarre network of holes that gives it the appearance like Swiss cheese. The Fenestrations (also called lobes or holes) appear on the leaves as they grow. Monstera deliciosa plants produce fruit in the wild, but it's difficult to get the plant to bear fruit in average indoor home conditions.

Unlike most succulents, Monsteras are not able to thrive in cold temperatures and will not survive in temperatures that are colder than a few hours. They prefer tropical temperatures that are warm and like those of their native rainforest habitats. This makes them a good choice for a conservatory or any other sunny spot that is cool enough to prevent frost and freezing.

Monsteras are vine plants that make use of aerial roots to ascend through the soil. In the wild they will typically grow on the forest floor and then attach themselves to trees or rocks. This is why many homeowners of plants include the trellis to their pots as the plant is growing.

The moss rod made of chicken wire or long-stranded sphagnum, will support the plants and let them climb up instead of falling out of their pot. The pole can also help to keep away pests such as sap-sucking mealybugs, aphids, and tiny thrips that resemble cigars, which can damage the leaves of the plant.

To encourage healthy, vigorous growth of the plant, repot it regularly and provide it with plenty of indirect sunlight. It can withstand some direct sunlight, but should not be exposed to direct sunlight from dawn to sunset. If exposed to direct sunlight monstera can burn its leaves, and possibly die.

ZZ Plant

Zamioculcas zamiifolia, better known as the ZZ plant has made quite a splash when it first came on the market and is one of the easiest house plants to maintain. It is a great choice for darker areas of the house in which other plants can't thrive. ZZ plants can grow very tall - up to a metre or more - therefore they're well-suited to larger pots and stand-up plants.

The ZZ plant is poisonous and should not be consumed by pets or children. It also has the potential to irritate your skin, so wear gloves when handling it. It is believed that it causes cancer, but this has not been proven.

Like all succulents, ZZ plants are relatively easy to grow and care for. They don't require a lot of water, however they do need to be kept well hydrated and it is important to allow the soil to dry between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot and it's best to err on the side of not needing more.

The most suitable potting mix for them is a hefty well-draining, well-drained mix that has perlite or sand added to improve drainage. They aren't fast-growing house plants and can go years without repotted, but they'll require to be repotted if their roots start to peek out from the top of the soil.

Fertilize your plants throughout the growing season by using a liquid fertilizer that is half strength. During the summer months, this is usually performed once or twice per month.

As with all indoor plants, check for insects like Aphids on a regular basis. Check for leggy, long stems, patterns of yellow or white on the leaves. Don't ignore the signs of mold or rot.

They need a little humidity, but they are fine at most house temperatures. Misting the leaves frequently will keep them dust free, not only for aesthetic reasons, but also to help them function as air purifying plants.

Kentia Palm

The kentia (Howea) palm is a stunning and easy to maintain plant that is easy to maintain. It is a favorite houseplant in many houses of the royal and aristocratic since Victorian times. This is due to its ability to grow in a variety of conditions including the lack of sunlight exposure as well as air conditioning and central heating. It's also pretty resistant to neglect, making it a great option for gardeners who are new to gardening.

Kentias like direct, bright light and will accept a bit of shade but it is best to keep them away from direct sunlight since this could cause scorching of the leaves. They also dislike draughty spots so don't place them close to windows that are often open and closed.

The kentia plant requires soil mixes that are nutrient-rich and well-draining. A mix of perlite, peat, and potting soil can work well to create this planter's medium. Plant your kentia in a pot with drainage holes. The palm should be watered thoroughly once the compost's top centimetres are dry. It's essential to not overwater the plant since this could cause root rot. It is also recommended to let the soil dry a bit before watering again.

You can prune your kentia in order to maintain its shape and shape, and also remove any dead leaves that appear. Pruning must be done with care as cutting off too many fronds could damage the plant's trunk and open it up to disease. If you decide to prune make sure you use shears that have an even cutting edge and cut the leaf bases from their base instead of forcing them out as this could result in permanent scars.

A kentia is susceptible to a variety of pests, including spider mites, mealybugs, and scale insects. Dusting the fronds regularly using a cloth or sponge can help to prevent this issue. If they do occur, try spraying the plant with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
