Immigration Terms - What Is Naturalization?

In addition, Section 329 of the INA states that a member of the us navy who have served honorably for any time period (even a single day) throughout specified periods of hostility can apply for naturalization if all different eligibility requirements are met. The designated durations of hostility are: (a) 04/06/1917 - 11/11/1918; (b) 09/01/1939 - 12/31/1946; (c) 06/25/1950 - 07/01/1955; (d) 02/28/1961 - 10/15/1978; (e) 08/02/1990-04/11/1991; (f) 09/11/2001 - Present.

Section 319(b) of the INA states that a partner of a U.S. citizen who's employed by the U.S. government (including the military) whose partner is scheduled to be stationed abroad in such employment for no less than one 12 months could additionally be eligible for naturalization.

Children of U.S. Citizens Born and Residing Abroad
