Gengar Shirt
Gengar, the dark specter from Pokemon lore, Gengar guards the borders between the physical world as well as a mystical realm. Gengar is the second Pokemon Ash captured in the anime following his entry into the Unova region of Sinnoh. Initially hostile, it grew more trusting of Ash and started to accept him. In gengarshirt and Moon series, Gengar made its debut in the episode Caring for a Mystery, where it saved several mine workers from an Gigantamaxed Coalossal which was threatening their place of work. When it reaches the Mega Form, it is much larger and sinks into the ground with just its tail, head, arms, and mouth visible.


It is believed that Gengar's name Gengar originates from the Japanese word that means shadow, (gengaru). Pokemon may have been influenced by the Japanese mythological creature known as oni. The creatures were believed to appear invisibly over cities and to bring about anything from natural disasters, to plagues. It is also possible that the Ghost-type's design was inspired by the doppleganger, a figure of duplication in ancient folklore. It could also appear to be an exact copy of the other.



Gengar is, just like its predecessors, is an effective spirit hunter and defender. It can hypnotize its enemies by causing the latter to lose control of their actions and attack themselves or other Pokemon. It can also drain their energy by eating their dreams.


Gengar, in addition to its numerous powers that make it spooky can also be a powerful fighter. Gengar is able to use Leer, Scratch, and Quick Attack to inflict damage. It is even capable of suffocating the enemies it faces with its deadly breath. It also uses claws from its adversaries fingers to poke them, and also hypnotize and make them faint.


Gengar, in the Red and Blue Rescue Team remakes can learn Leer (a specific attack) as well as Scratch (a special move) and Quick Attack as an advanced maneuver when it is being escorted up Mt. Freeze and Murky Cave are the only two moves it is able to learn. This is due to it being a Ghost-type escort Pokemon with unique information.
