Mac DeMarco is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter with a penchant for self-deprecating humor and serpentine guitars. His music combines elements of indie, psychedelic and alternative.






In a world of music where everyone is desperate to be noticed, DeMarco quietly makes himself a name through his genre-bending music writing and production style yet remaining true to his style and keeping the music as low-stakes as they can. Five Easy Hot Dogs is his most recent album. It's a collection instrumental songs that he recorded on his travels across North America. Each track was named after the locale where it was created.





DeMarco didn't set out to make a different style of album, but the end result is very Mac. The album is one you could listen to on the morning of a Sunday or on a Friday evening. It's not a break from what DeMarco is doing before, but it's a reminder of what can occur when you put your trust in your heart and observe all the things around you.

The fans at Birmingham's O2 Academy were filling up into the back of the stage before the support act got underway and is a testament to the increasing popularity of Mac DeMarco within the British indie music scene. Through his entire career, the Canadian musician has been able to remove any hint of rockstar sheen, as well as allowing listeners to be part of the creative process by making recordings that are demo versions.





DeMarco took to the stage to a standing ovation and opened with On The Level from his new album This Old Dog and followed by Salad Days and Cooking Up Something Good The two songs were both crowd favorite songs of the night.
