The Reasons You're Not Successing At House Plant
Easy House Plants

A slender monstera with its glossy leaves and modern pot is a striking addition to the corner. It's easy to care for and is happy to be rooted, reducing the need for the need to repot.

Plants that are matched to lighting conditions is crucial. Avoid houseplants that have leaf drooping or swollen, mushy roots, or soil that is wet. They might not be salvageable and may carry diseases.

Pothos

Pothos, also called Devil's Ivy or Rapunzel plant is among the easiest to care for foliage plants. It thrives in dim to bright indirect lighting and is ideal for filling dark areas of a room. It is tolerant of all conditions and will even tolerate direct sunlight if it isn't prolonged. If it's exposed to too much sun it may become leggy and lose its variation.

Pothos can be propagated from a stem cutting. Simply cut the vine length and remove three or two leaves, cutting it down to 2"-3". Place it in a pot with water. It will begin growing roots quickly. It is crucial to change the water regularly, ideally once every two weeks. It can be placed in either potting soil, and will grow well in both. Once the root system is established (usually within four weeks) it is possible to transfer it into a pot with regular pots for your houseplants.

Pothos like all houseplants, needs an all-purpose fertilizer to stay healthy. Pothos does not require as frequent fertilization as other houseplants. A feeding every month during spring and summer months should be sufficient.

As with most plants, it's important to avoid placing a Pothos in drafty areas or near a radiator since the leaves are likely to turn brown and shrunk. If this happens, place it in a brighter section of the house and then fertilize it once more as normal.

The leaves of the Pothos will let you know if it requires watering. It's time to water it if the edges of the leaf have become brown and dry. Also, if the leaves start to droop it's most likely time to get it watered.

Epipremnum aureum (Pothos) is available in many different cultivars with heart-shaped leaves which vary from green to white and yellow. Popular varieties include 'Marble Queen,' which has striking white and green variegation, and 'Neon, with green leaves adorned with red and yellow markings.

Pothos can last up to 10 years provided with the right conditions. Basic maintenance and good environment care can prolong this lifespan. It is also extremely easy to propagate, making it a great option for beginners who want to grow.

Monstera

Monstera deliciosa is also known as the Swiss cheese plant or split-leaf Philodendron. It is a common indoor houseplant found in temperate climates. It can also be grown outdoors in warmer climates, and is a very popular landscape plant. It is a moderately greedy plant, and needs to be occasionally watered to keep the soil moist.

The monstera, which is a member of the Dracaena family, is named after its odd-looking leaves with an odd pattern of holes. It resembles Swiss cheese. The fenestrations (also known as holes or lobes) appear on the leaves when they mature. In the wild, Monstera deliciosa produces fruit. However, it's difficult to get this plant to produce fruit in an indoor environment.

Unlike most succulents, Monsteras are not a good choice for cold temperatures and will not survive if left outside for more than just a few hours. They prefer warm, tropical temperatures similar to those of their rainforest habitats. This makes them an excellent option for a conservatory or other sunny spot that is cool enough to avoid frost and freezing.

Monsteras are a type of vine that uses aerial roots to grow through the soil. In the wild, they often attach themselves to trees or rocks after they have grown along the forest floor for a time. This natural habit is the reason many gardeners add a tree or moss pole to their pots as the plant develops.

The moss pole that can be made with chicken wire or a piece of long-strand sphagnum moss will help support the plant and let it climb up instead of out of the pot. The pole will also to deter pests like sap-sucking mealybugs, aphids and tiny cigar-shaped thrips that can cause damage to the leaves of the plant.

To encourage a healthy, vigorous growth of the plant, you should repot it regularly and give it plenty of bright indirect sunlight. popular house plants can withstand some direct sunlight, but shouldn't be exposed to direct sunlight from dawn to dusk. A monstera that's exposed to the sun for extended periods will get burnt leaves and even die.

ZZ Plant

Zamioculcas zamiifolia, also known as the ZZ plant has made quite a splash when it first came on the market and is one of the easiest house plants to take care of. It's a great choice for dark spots in the home that many other plants can't thrive in, as it can thrive in any lighting conditions aside from direct sunlight. ZZ plants can grow to an elevation of up to one metre, and are best suited to larger pots and plant stands.

The ZZ plant's most significant drawback is that it is poisonous if consumed, so keep it away from nibbling pets and children. It can also cause irritation to the skin, so be sure to wear gloves when handling it. It is rumored to cause cancer, but it has not been proven.

ZZ plants, as with all succulents are easy to maintain and grow. They don't require a great deal of water, but they should be well watered. It is crucial to allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can result in root rot, so it's best to be cautious and use less water.

The ideal potting mix for them is a rich well-draining mix, with a little perlite or sand added to increase drainage. The plant is not a fast grower and can be kept in the same pot for a long time. However, they will need to have their roots planted when they begin to poke through the soil.

Fertilize during the growing season using half-strength liquid fertilizer. It is usually once or twice a month during the summer months.

Look for Aphids, as you would with any other indoor plant. Look for spindly stems that are leggy and long, and spots or yellow patterns on the leaves (see the image above). The leaves are also prone to mold and rot so don't ignore these signs and let them go out of control.

They require a little bit of humidity but can be used in normal house temperatures. The leaves will be dust-free by misting them frequently. This is not only for aesthetic purposes but it also helps them function as air purifying plants.

Kentia Palm

The kentia (Howea) palm is a stunning and simple to care for plant. It has been a common plant in houses of the royal and aristocratic since Victorian times. This is because of its ability to thrive in harsh conditions, such as the lack of sunlight exposure, air conditioning and central heating. It's also pretty tolerant of neglect making it an ideal choice for novice gardeners.

Kentias prefer light, indirect and bright. They can tolerate a little shade, but direct light can burn their leaves. They also don't like draughty places so don't place them near windows that are frequently opened and closed.

The kentia plant requires soil that is rich in nutrients and drains well. A mix of peat, perlite, and potting soil will work well to create this planter's medium. Plant your kentia palm in a pot with drainage holes and water thoroughly whenever the top centimetres of compost is dry. It is important not to overwater the plant since this could cause root rot. It is best to let the soil air dry out before watering.

You can trim your kentia to maintain its shape and shape, and also remove dead leaves that appear. However, pruning should be done with care since removing too many fronds can cause damage to the plant's trunk and leave it open to infection. If you decide to trim ensure that you use shears that have a smooth cutting edge and remove the leaf bases at their base instead of forcing them off as this can leave permanent scars.

A kentia plant can be extremely susceptible to pests such as spider mites, mealybugs and scale insects. Regularly dusting the fronds using a sponge or cloth can help to prevent this issue. If they do, spray the plant with insecticide oil or soap.
