House Plant: 11 Thing You're Forgetting To Do
Easy House Plants

A slim, slender plant with shiny leaves and modern pot makes a striking addition to an area. It's easy to care for and is happy to be rooted and reducing the need for the need to repot.

It is crucial to ensure that plants are matched with light conditions. Avoid plants in your home that have leaf drooping or swollen, mushy roots, or soggy soil. They may not be able to be saved and could harbour diseases.

Pothos

Pothos is also called Devil's Ivy and Rapunzel Plant. It's among the easiest plants to maintain. It thrives under low to bright indirect lighting and is perfect for filling dark areas of the room. It is tolerant of most conditions and can even tolerate direct sunlight, if not prolonged. However, if it is exposed to too much sun it may get swollen and lose its variegation.

Pothos can be propagated from the stem cutting. Simply cut a length of the vine and cut two leaves to around 2"-3". Place it in a pot filled with water. It will begin to develop roots very fast. It is crucial to change the water regularly and at least once every two weeks. It can be placed in either potting or water soil, and will root well in both. Once the root system is established (usually within 4 weeks), you can transfer it into a pot with regular pots for houseplants.

Pothos like all houseplants, requires a an all-purpose fertilizer to ensure its health. However, it does not require fertilization as frequently as most other houseplants. It is sufficient to feed the plant once a month in the spring and summer months.

Pothos leaves can become brown and shriveled if placed in areas that are drafty or close to radiators. Reposition the plant in more brightly lit space in your home, and fertilize it as normal.

A Pothos leaves will tell you whether it needs to be watered. It's time to water it if the edges of the leaves have become dry and brown. If the leaves begin to lose their shape, it's time to water.

Epipremnum (Pothos), a variety of heart-shaped leaves that are available in green, white or yellow It is available. The most well-known varieties include "Marble Queen," with a striking green and white variegation. Another popular variety is "Neon," which has green leaves that have yellow and red markings.

Pothos can last up to 10 years given the right conditions. Basic maintenance and good environmental care can extend this lifespan. It is also very easy to propagate, making it a perfect option for people who are new to gardening.

Monstera

Monstera deliciosa is also known as the Swiss cheese plant or split-leaf Philodendron. It is a common indoor houseplant found in temperate climates. It can also be grown outdoors in warmer climates and is a well-loved landscaping plant. It is a moderately greedy plant, and needs to be occasionally watered to keep the soil damp.

A member of the Dracaena genus The monstera is known for its unusual-looking leaves with a strange pattern of holes, giving it the appearance like Swiss cheese. The lobes and holes, scientifically called fenestrations, appear on the leaves as they age. Monstera deliciosa plants produce fruit in the wild, however it's difficult for the plant to bear fruit in typical indoor conditions.

Monsteras are not tolerating cold temperatures, and will die if left outside for longer than an hour. They prefer tropical temperatures that are similar to their native rainforest habitats. This makes them a great choice for a conservatory or other sunny spot that's cool enough to avoid frost and freezing.

Monsteras are vines that use aerial roots to ascend through the soil. In the wild, they often attach themselves to trees or rocks after having grown on the forest floor for a time. This natural habit is the reason many plant owners put a tree or moss pole to their pots as the plant grows.

The moss pole, which can be constructed using chicken wire or a chunk of sphagnum moss with a long-strand, will provide support to the plant and allow it to climb instead of falling out of the pot. The pole will also help to deter pests like sap-sucking mealybugs, aphids and tiny thrips in the shape of cigars that can harm the plant's leaves.

To promote a healthy and vigorous growth of the plant, repot it regularly and provide it with plenty of indirect sunlight. It can tolerate some direct light, but it should not be kept in direct sunlight from dawn until dusk. If exposed to direct sunlight monstera can burn its leaves and even die.

ZZ Plant

Zamioculcas, also known as ZZ plant or the ZZ plant for short is among the easiest plants to care for. types of house plants is a great option for areas of the home where other plants aren't able to thrive. ZZ plants can reach heights of up to an elongated metre or more which is why they're ideal for larger pots and plant stands.

The ZZ plant's main disadvantage is that it can be poisonous if ingested so keep it away from pets that are nibbling and children. Use gloves when handling the plant as it can cause irritation to your skin. It is rumored to cause cancer, but this has not been proven.

Like all succulents, ZZ plants are relatively easy to grow and care for. They don't require a great deal of water, however they must be thoroughly watered and it is important to let the soil dry out between waterings. Overwatering can result in root decay, so it's best to be cautious and use less water.

They do best with an adsorbent, free-draining potting mix that includes perlite or sand for better drainage. The plant is not a fast grower and can be left in the same pot for years. However they will require to have their roots replanted as they begin to poke through the soil.

Fertilize your plants during the growing season by using a liquid fertilizer that is half strength. It is usually every month or two times during the warmer months.

As with all indoor plants, check for insects such as Aphids regularly. Be on the lookout for long, leggy stems, patterns or yellow spots on the leaves. Be aware of the signs of mold and rot.

They require a little bit of humidity but are ok in the majority of normal house temperatures. The leaves will not be smudge-free by misting them frequently. This is not just for aesthetic reasons, but it also helps them function as air purifying plants.

Kentia Palm

The kentia (Howea) palm is a stunning and simple to maintain plant. It has been a popular plant in houses of the royal and aristocratic since Victorian times. This is due to its ability to thrive in poor conditions such as the lack of sunlight exposure, air conditioning and central heating. It's also pretty intolerant of neglect, making it an ideal choice for beginners to garden.

Kentias like direct, bright light and can tolerate a little shade, but it's recommended to keep them away from direct sunlight since this can cause the leaves to burn. They dislike draughty areas so try to avoid them near windows that are usually shut and opened.

The kentia palm needs a soil mix that is nutrient-rich and well-draining. A mix of perlite, peat, and potting soil can work well to create this planter's medium. Plant your kentia in a pot with drainage holes. The palm should be watered thoroughly after the compost top centimetres are dry. Overwatering can cause root rot. It's best to let the soil air dry out before watering.

You can trim the fronds on your kentia palm to keep its shape and eliminate dead leaves as they appear. Pruning should be done cautiously as having too many fronds cut can damage the trunk and expose the plant to infection. If you decide to prune ensure that you use shears that have an even cutting edge and remove the leaf bases from their base rather than forcing them out as this could leave permanent scars.

A kentia is susceptible to a variety of pests, including spider mites, mealybugs and scale insects. Regularly dusting the fronds using a sponge or cloth can help to prevent this issue. If they do occur, spray the plant with insecticide oil or soap.
