How did the constitution guard against tyranny?, In 1787 in Philadelphia the constitution was written
Tyranny means that all the power is in one place. The constitution guarded against tyranny in several way Separation of powers which were Federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, and BIG states vs small states. The first guard against tyranny was Federalism which means to divide the power between states and national government. The different government will each control each other at the same time that each will be controlled by itself (Doc. A). Federalism protects against tyranny because the powers were divided between national and state government.
The second guard against tyranny was Separation of powers which means that government was divided into three powers. The three different powers are Legislative, Executive, Judicial. They all keep tyranny from happening (doc b). Separation of powers protects against tyranny because it keeps all of the states and important things from getting to strong.
