Sree Gurubhyo Namaha . My name is S.Adithi and I'm from 5L. Today I'm going to speak about the proverb-"Strike while the iron is hot".
This saying is widely used and also mentioned in various literary works such as, "The Tale of Melibeous" by Geoffery Chaucer, "Strike while the iron is hot" by Kinyua Kiranja etc. .
So, what does this proverb mean?
It means to act decisively and take advantage of an opportunity as soon as it arises. If we don't do this, the opportunity will go away and may never return.This famous saying literally refers to a blacksmith not cutting the iron at the correct time when it was hot, instead cutting it when it became cold. So what happened?? He couldn't cut the iron and wasted his material.
To quote few examples of usage of this phrase in sentences are:
+ I took too long to respond to the job offer I got. So it was given to someone else. i should've struck the iron when it was hot.
+No!! I missed the opportunity of going to Paris as I didn't see this flyer of a free flight there! I should have struck the iron while it was hot
