College Football Schedule Predictor
College football can often produce unexpected surprises. One way of predicting them accurately is to use a computer ranking that takes both margin of victory and strength of schedule into consideration.

If Ohio State is in the top four and USC has two losses, then the committee gives more credit to USC for having had such a brief schedule; that makes a major difference when ranking teams at the end.
Schedule

Every year, conference and national championship contenders run into unexpected roadblocks in the form of determined underdogs. Last season alone, South Carolina stunned Tennessee as an underdog by outshouting them by three touchdowns, Appalachian State upset Texas A&M and Georgia Southern ran roughshod over Nebraska forcing a coaching change there.

Clemson appears poised for another run at the Playoff under Dabo Swinney and should win this game easily. Unfortunately, an away trip against LSU awaits them next; that team boasts plenty of talent including Heisman candidate quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Week 1

The 2023 college football season will kickoff with an explosive first game as LSU and Florida State square off against each other at a neutral site location on Week 1. It promises to be an intriguing matchup that could carry some CFP implications.

Fox's Big Noon slot will feature Deion Sanders and Colorado hosting Nebraska in an old Big Ten rivalry match-up, and there are other noteworthy matches to keep an eye out for too.

And at 3:30, Tennessee and Florida battle, which has become a regular feature during CBS' SEC package for many years now. CBS reaps a win here.
Week 2

College football season opens this weekend with several intriguing matchups, with Tennessee-Florida and Alabama-Texas being two such contests from SEC schools, while USC will travel to Stanford as Lincoln Riley makes his first Pac-12 conference appearance.

However, the biggest game will likely be between future SEC opponents Alabama and Texas - both teams possessing many questions entering this season and having recently appointed new quarterbacks with high expectations - this could be an early-September showdown with high stakes implications for either side.
Week 3

On Wednesday, major television networks will unveil their selections and times for Week 3 of college football, featuring Georgia-Ohio State rematch that could determine its destiny for both teams and fans alike.

Elsewhere, Iowa-Oklahoma State could have Big Ten title implications and Oregon-UCLA could provide plenty of shock value. ABC/ESPN's schedule offers several interesting matchups that wouldn't interfere with Texas A&M-Miami like Mississippi State-Alabama would. This week stands out amongst all others on the schedule!
Week 4

Week 4 in college football always makes for an enthralling battle, from local rivalries and conference championships at stake to a potential spot in the playoffs still up for grabs. Can top teams deliver in this weekend that often surprises us all by producing unexpected upsets and unexpected heroes?

"College GameDay" may select the matchup between Oklahoma and OU as one of its picks, as "College GameDay" only ever made one previous trip to Norman for this clash (in 2020). Otherwise, it might select Pitt vs West Virginia or Florida State at Boston College as potential options.
Week 5

Week 5 will feature plenty of top-25 matchups that could have both ratings and playoff implications, including Michigan vs Georgia's potential rematch - it would mark the first Big Ten-SEC showdown since four teams joined the College Football Playoff (CFP).

Notable games this weekend include Clemson at NC State and Alabama vs Arkansas, two unbeaten top-10 matchups that could play a crucial role in determining playoff positioning. college football news and rumors at Kansas should also be high on any fan's agenda after Texas routed Kansas 55-14 last season.
Week 6

After last week's shocker of an upset between Penn State and Iowa, which could force them into another faceoff in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. 2023's four top teams are entering this weekend on high alert after suffering big setbacks last week. That includes Penn State against Iowa as that could set up another potential clash for them both in Atlanta next January.

This week's marquee game will feature an intriguing Pac-12 rivalry that could provide Stanford with its second ranked win of the year - and could prove crucial as they try and secure playoff eligibility.
Week 7

Week 7 promises a host of marquee match-ups and historic rivalries, with Iowa State-Oregon serving as an opening act and Notre Dame taking on NC State for prime time action. ABC offers the most compelling coverage with Iowa State at Oregon and Notre Dame against NC State as highlights on their schedules respectively.

This week features six games featuring top-25 teams, such as Alabama-Tennessee and Oklahoma State-TCU. Mississippi State versus Kentucky could also be featured as potential ranked contests.
Week 8

College Football Playoff contenders will have a busy Week 8, as Tennessee travels to Georgia and No. 6 Alabama meets Mississippi State - two high-scoring opponents that could make for exciting football matches. SportsLine provides picks on these matches; our computer model has made over $2,500 profit by choosing Georgia-TCU as the winner!

An exciting matchup awaits unbeaten teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference (No. 14 Syracuse against No. 5 Clemson) as well as what could become College GameDay's Game of the Week: Texas taking on Oklahoma State at No. 20 Texas (or 11 Oklahoma State for that matter).
Week 9

Last week was relatively lackluster in college football terms; however, not every game is created equal.

This weekend's lineup could prove more thrilling than anticipated, featuring top-ranked rivalry games that could decide division and conference title races, plus a rematch of an exciting 2021 chaos matchup: Ohio State at Michigan. Meanwhile, Texas A&M versus Alabama provides New Year's Six implications - two teams which should both contend for playoff berths this season.
