Centaurus Firenze adalah centaurus yang menolong Harry saat dirinya bertemu dengan sosok bertudung yang meminum darah unicorn. Firenze juga menawarkan tunggangan untuknya kembali ke sekolah. Centaurus itu menceritakan kepada Harry bahwa yang meminum darah seekor unicorn akan menyelamatkan hidup orang yang sekarat, tetapi meninggalkan mereka hanya tinggal sejengkal hidup. Dan Harry mengira Voldemort meminum darah unicorn untuk memperoleh kekuatan yang cukup untuk membuat hidup abadi dari Batu Bertuah, dan memperoleh kesehatan penuh dengan meminumnya.
Sedangkan Centaurus Bane dan Rowan adalah salah dua dari kelompok Firenze. Mereka menentang Firenze yang menawarkan tunggangan pada Harry karena dianggap merendahkan diri kepada manusia. Namun diakhir cerita juga kelompok Centaurus Rowan dan Bane ikut bertarung melawan pasukan Voldemort yang merusak Hutan Terlarang sebagai tempat tinggalnya.
Diakhir cerita, Firenze menjadi guru Ramalan menggantikan profesor Trelawney yang diculik, itu membuat ia semakin dibenci oleh kelompoknya dan dikucilkan sehingga Profs Dumbledore tetap 'mengamankan' Firenze di Hogwarts walaupun Prof Trelawney sudah kembali. Firenze juga ikut bertarung melawan pasukan Voldemort sehingga dirinya terluka cukup parah.
