In the process the hunter meets numerous fellow Hunters such as Kurapika who is a member of the Kurta clan who is determined to become a Hunter to pay retribution for the family massacre; Leorio, a future physician who seeks the financial benefits Hunters receive and Killua Zoldyck, a former assassin looking to restore his glory as a member of the world's most famous assassin's family.
After the defeat of Meruem the Chimera Ant King, Gon and Killua are enlisted to aid Kite President of the Hunter Association in his investigation into a man-sized queen chimera that washes up on an island country. The chimera is able to use the ability to consume and consume Nen, the parapsychological power of those eating human flesh.
