Silent Planet Posters
With each album that the California metalcore group Silent Planet has released they are always able to create a strong impact with their passionate lyrics and an engaging narrative that runs from beginning to the end. Iridescent is their fourth album in full-length, doesn't disappoint and shows the band's potential. It could be the beautiful sound and ambiance present in bands like mewithoutYou or the deep sound and riffing of Oh, Sleeper, Silent Planet have their own unique spin on metalcore and have an individual style that is their own.
The first track, "Trilogy," lays the foundation for the rest of the album. After a brief, chaotic intro featuring electronic sounds, the song explodes into a loud way. Silent Planet's signature neck-snapping guitar riffs are supported by a dazzling wordplay and cadence. Russell's lyrical skills are impressive, as he recounts the events that led him to and during his stay at a psychiatric facility.
The album follows an aggressive turn by the song "Alive as a Housefire" which is a great showcase of guitar work by the band. Each riff is a way to increase the tension before the breakdown. Russell curses for the first time in the album in the last breakdown, shouting "Fucking the system. break the prism."
The Well, a more relaxing and calming track, follows. It still has the dark, eerie vibes of the group but is a more powerful song. The track features some great guitar work. Every one of the musicians contribute their own riffs and tones making it a standout track on Iridescent.
The band's last track "Depths 3" shows that they can make a superb album when their music is less sophisticated and more laidback. This album is an outstanding one from a metalcore band you should put in your list of must-listens. https://list.ly/birchbirch915 will be something that I'll keep for a long time. Solid State signed these guys, and I think they've made the right choice. Silent Planet Aprons have a lot to provide. This is an album that is worth checking out.
