In a tribute to the tragic bombing victims at the Boston marathon April 15, Boston Magazine?s May issue includes a cover photo of jogging shoes worn during the marathon arranged in the form of a heart.
In line with the magazine, the initial idea for the issue was to commission essays from well-known Boston writers, but through the brainstorming of how exactly to illustrate that on the cover, the staff developed the thought of collecting shoes and stories from marathon runners and arranging the runners? shoes for the cover.
The issue was the magazine had been well along in the production cycle, so that they had only three days execute the idea.
Based on the magazine, they figured they?d need at the very least 100 pairs of shoes, therefore the staff set out to find people through social media and friends.
more info collected 120 pairs of jogging shoes for the cover, and every owner was interviewed. Fifteen runners? stories were featured in the print edition of the magazine, as the rest are set to be published online.
