Myoclonic tonic clonic seizure is a condition which is associated with generalized polyspike-wave discharge. It is characterized by repetitive, jerky movements that affect the face, arms, legs, and the body as a whole.

Myoclonic tonic clonic seizures usually occur in sleep states. However, they can also be induced by sleep deprivation or prolonged EEG recordings.
Seizures can be bilateral or asymmetric. During attacks, the person's body will feel sore, tired, and exhausted. They may make gurgling sounds, let out a deep sigh, or appear to be sleeping.
IGE patients may present with learning and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, anxiety, and other neurological symptoms. These symptoms should be carefully ruled out.
Generalized tonic-clonic seizures are often confused with myoclonus. Despite the similarity of these two seizure types, myoclonic seizures are more frequently seen in children. This is because myoclonus is less recurrent and less dramatic than clonus.
Generalized tonic-clonic seizure can be treated with medication and nerve stimulation. In cases of severe, uncontrolled tonic-clonic seizures, a comatose state can result.
In generalized tonic-clonic seizures, the ictal phase involves a continuous buildup of tonic muscle activity. This is accompanied by a generalized spike-wave and slow-wave burst. Eventually, the tonic-clonic clonic jerks will reduce in amplitude and frequency.
