Good afternoon to one and all present here. My name is Zarin and i'll be elaborating on the topic, "Cricket, an overrated sport". Nowadays, sports has become a part of everyone's life be it entertainment or career. Today, I would like to express my opinions towards how overrated cricket is. As much as its passion is undeniable and it holds a special place in everyone's heart, we also have to reflect on how much its overshadowing other sports, as well as our own nation's national sport.

Very recently, the captain of the Indian football team had to request Indians to come to watch their match against Kenya. Apparently, the stands weren’t getting the audience they had expected. Indian Women Kabaddi team, which won the World Cup had to go back to their homes in autorickshaws from the airport. While the Indian Cricket team members are treated no less than Bollywood celebrities.

Cricket's immense popularity can be attributed to legendary players like Sachin Tendulkar, M.S Dhoni, Kapil Dev and the media surrounding these unforgetful matches. However, as much enthusiastic we all are towards cricket, we are forgetting about other sports and the talents of numerous athletes who excel in them. From hockey and badminton to wrestling and athletics, there are remarkable athletes who have brought laurels to our nation. Unfortunately, the limited visibility and investment in these sports have hindered their growth and development. India is a land of diversity, and this diversity is reflected in the array of sports we can excel in. In conclusion, cricket's popularity is well-deserved, but we must also nurture the potential of other sports. By embracing a diverse sporting culture, we encourage holistic development and inclusivity. Let's celebrate cricket while also empowering all sports to contribute to India's vibrant sports landscape.
