The person experiencing the seizure may experience rapid blinking, staring into space, and inattention. It is believed that these seizures arise in the thalamo-cortical networks. If you are experiencing a tonic clonic seizure, you should not put anything in your mouth. You should turn your head to the side you are breathing on, loosen your clothing, and speak calmly.

There are many different types of seizures. Some of the more common types are clonic, tonic, and absence. Each type causes a different set of symptoms.

During a clonic seizure, the person experiences muscle jerks and shaking. Other types of seizures involve the body moving slowly. Myoclonic seizures, on the other hand, are short-lived and cause jerking of the arms, legs, and body. Usually, these seizures occur within the first few minutes of waking up.
